In a groundbreaking development that's set to send shockwaves through Washington, newly uncovered communication logs have exposed the CIA's clandestine involvement in the Jan. 6 Capitol riots. This revelation, courtesy of 88 bombshell pages disclosed by Judicial Watch, illustrates the intelligence agency's critical albeit covert contributions during the day's turmoil.

Judicial Watch, relentless in their pursuit of transparency, pried these heavily redacted documents from the government's tight grip through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit. These papers unveil the agency's deployment of "several" canine units on high alert near the Capitol, alongside "bomb techs" positioned strategically in the vicinity of the Republican National Committee and Democratic National Committee headquarters following the discovery of explosive devices.

This information turns the spotlight on the CIA, an agency that has managed to stay largely in the shadows concerning its Jan. 6 activities, against the backdrop of almost universal involvement by federal and city law enforcement in managing the chaos of that day.

Diving deeper, Judicial Watch highlighted excerpts from the "January 7 Intel Chain" provided by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. These snippets bring to light two distinct mentions of CIA involvement, including assistance by "two CIA bomb techs" at a pipe bomb scene and "several CIA dog teams on standby," ready to spring into action.

Amid ongoing investigations into the origins of the pipe bombs at both party headquarters, these documents also shed light on initial inaccuracies in reporting, notably concerning the tragic shooting of Ashli Babbitt, a pro-Trump supporter and ex-Air Force veteran, by a U.S. Capitol Police officer. Contrary to earlier claims that Babbitt was shot in the chest on the House floor, further examination reveals she was shot in the shoulder as she entered the Speaker's Lobby, just behind the House chamber.

The exchange also touched on the informed status of the CIA director during the chaos and the evacuation of Congress members to Fort McNair, revealing the high level of concern and coordination among federal entities.

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton remarked on the significance of these findings, stating, "These striking records show that CIA resources were deployed in reaction to the Jan. 6 disturbance."

This revelation not only adds a new layer of complexity to our understanding of Jan. 6 but also raises pressing questions about the extent of intelligence involvement in domestic affairs. As the country continues to grapple with the fallout of that fateful day, one thing is clear: the truth is far more intricate than we were led to believe. Stay tuned as this story develops, because one thing's for certain—this is only the tip of the iceberg.
